Healing Your Inner Child Using Hypnosis Understanding the Inner Child Your inner child lives in your subconscious mind. It is an aspect of your personality that began early in life, when you emerged as an intelligent, playful, curious being who was emotionally sensitive and very vulnerable. Your inner child took shape in response to the positive and negative events and experiences you had with your parents and others. Praise and encouragement nourish the inner child and help it develop healthy self-esteem and a positive self-image. Trauma, neglect, abandonment, or abuse (emotionally, physically, and/or sexually) wound the child within, who suffers deeply, and expresses a damaged sense of self. The coping mechanisms that develop to protect the child, when carried into adulthood, sabotage the accomplishment of their goals and dreams, and undermine living a healthy, fulfilled life. Inner child hypnosis is a therapeutic process involving hypnotic induction into a deeply relaxed and focused state in which the subconscious mind is directly and immediately accessible. In this state, the subconscious is receptive to the techniques and suggestions presented to heal the inner child, foster a positive mindset, and motivate the constructive action needed to succeed.
